For Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council - Conservation
Register your interestThe council supports around 20 active volunteer groups across the borough who work in a variety of different parks and green spaces to help look after the wildlife and habitats there and to make them a nicer place for people to visit. A lot of the practical work is carried out in autumn and winter (September – March), as this avoids disturbing nesting birds in spring and summer. Tasks involve cutting down scrub, coppicing woodlands, hedge planting, clearing out ponds and streams etc. In the warmer months, footpath work, surveys and children/family activities keep the groups busy! There are also less physical roles within volunteer groups such as, managing the social media, administrative tasks, treasurer etc. The volunteers are friendly and always keen for new help, whether you can come regularly or just once in a while! Tools and gloves are provided, and no experience is necessary.
No previous experience necessary. If under 18, must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
