We are looking for volunteers to join us all over Hampshire. Our team areas are based in Farnborough, Basingstoke, Fareham, and Eastleigh - volunteers can specify which area to cover. 

Role requirements:

  •  To supervise young people aged between 10-18 subject to Court Orders during reparation activities as directed by Hampshire Youth Offending Team.
  • To supervise young people who are required to undertake reparation activity in various settings.
  • To support young people with travelling to and from reparation sessions.
  • To always ensure the safety of young people and to ensure requested tasks are suitable.
  • To provide encouragement, support, and work in pro social manner with young people at all times.
  • To share project risk assessments of placements with young people before each activity and report any additional risks recognised during sessions not identified within the current risk assessment (further training will be given).
  • To produce written reports about each reparation session in a professional manner and submit these in a timely fashion.
  • To be available for supervision duties regularly.
  • To complete incident reporting forms during sessions if required.
  • To ensure procedures are always maintained.
  • To ensure the strict adherence to all legal requirements relating to Rehabilitation of Offenders, Equal Opportunities, Data Protection, Criminal Justice Act, Child Protection etc.
  • To ensure full compliance with Youth Justice Board guidance relating to the delivery of Restorative Justice. (YJB National Standards 2004, YJB Performance Measures 2004, YJB Counting Rules 2004)
  • To represent and promote Hampshire YOT in a professional manner at all times.
  • To work flexible hours, including evenings where required. 

What skills do I need?

Position is suitable for:

  • Mature students over 21yrs old
  • People who drive
  • People with a particular interest in Social Work, Criminology, The Youth Justice System, or working with vulnerable people
  • Students from all Faculties are encouraged to apply

We ask for at least 1 year’s commitment to Hampshire Youth Offending Team. There is no minimum requirement per week, but the commitment needs to be regular.

Volunteers also need to commit to the training which consists of:

  • 1 Day Reparation Training
  • ½ day – GDPR and Data Protection online learning
  • Safeguarding Training online learning
  • First Aid Training
