We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Marketing Volunteer to help us increase our visibility, grow our listenership, and strengthen our relationship with the local community. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain practical experience in marketing, social media, and communications within a fun, creative, and community-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in creating, scheduling, and posting engaging content (text, images, video) across our main social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter).
- Monitor social media channels, respond to comments/messages, and help foster a positive online community.
- Content Creation:
Help draft copy for promotional materials, website updates, and newsletters.
- Occasionally assist with basic graphic design tasks (using tools like Canva) for online promotion.
- Listener Engagement & Promotion:
Brainstorm and implement creative ideas for listener competitions, polls, and interactive segments to promote specific shows or station initiatives.
- Assist with the promotion of station events, fundraising drives, and community partnerships.
- Identify and research local community groups, businesses, and events for potential collaboration and cross-promotion.
Assist with preparing basic press releases or promotional materials for local media outlets.
This role could be carried out at the radio station or at home
What skills do I need?
- A passion for community radio and the local community.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, etc.).
- Basic understanding of marketing principles or a willingness to learn quickly.
- Highly organised, reliable, and able to manage time effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dynamic volunteer team.
