Whitchurch Conservation Group is looking for volunteers to help remove invasive Himalayan Balsam from beside the River Test in Whitchurch.
Help is needed to stop the spread of the non-native plant called Himalayan balsam which is invading river banks, threatening native wildlife.
Himalayan Balsam has short roots and is easy to pull up so balsam pulling is very satisfying and can be great fun. If you have some time to spare this summer, enjoy being outside in the fresh air and want to make a difference to the environment, come and join our friendly volunteers.
We will be working in the watermeadows beside the River Test in Whitchurch including the Millennium Meadow.
Dates: at your convenience throughout June, July and August; please advise.
Hours: 9.30 am (for a 10am start) until around 3.30pm
Requirements: You will need long trousers and long sleeved tops and appropriate footware that you don't mind getting muddy.
Parking is available at Fulling Mill, Whitchurch (RG28 7RA)
Gloves and drinks will be provided.
We will need around 13-15 people each date for the activity to go ahead so would be a perfect Corporate Volunteering activity.
No skills required.
