Could you be a cloth nappy champion? Are you passionate about helping new families to adopt a more eco friendly approach to nappy use? Would you like to help out? As a Nappy Library Volunteer, you will support local families across Hart, Rushmoor and Farnham to explore and use reusable nappies with confidence.

The scheme was formerly run by volunteers as Farnborough Cloth Nappy Library. Hart Voluntary Action have now taken over running the service at the Hart Eco Hub and are looking for new volunteers to support it.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Meeting (in person or online) with parents to explain how reusable nappies work and introduce the contents of their loan kit.
  • Preparing loan kits by washing nappies in line with Nappy Library guidance and repacking kits ready for hire.
  • Managing loans through the booking system.
  • Receiving returned kits, checking that all items have been returned in good condition, and arranging the return of security deposits.

There are also opportunities to support the Nappy Library by:

  • Promoting the service through social media.
  • Representing the Nappy Library at local parent and family events.
  • Helping raise awareness at community sustainability and environmental events.

No previous experience with reusable nappies is required—training and support will be provided.

Volunteers who prepare loan kits can claim a contribution towards washing costs in line with the Nappy Library’s reimbursement arrangements. Volunteers can choose whether to act as an adviser (including kit refresh) only; as an admin volunteer or both.

What skills do I need?

No previous experience or qualifications are required but an interest in cloth nappies or the environment would be beneficial. Full training will be provided.

Availability Details

Kits are loaned periodically and volunteer support is required on an ad-hoc basis to facilitate loans and to suit the volunteer.
