Hart Voluntary Action is working with Hart District Council to deliver this volunteer based scheme to help local householders in Hart District understand more about how they could make their homes more energy efficient, warmer and to reduce energy bills.

Thermal imaging volunteers will visit Hart residents who have registered interest to have a free Thermal Imaging assessment of their home via Hart District Council's registration process.

Volunteers will visit in pairs and take images outside and inside the property, and then share the results with the householder. Volunteers will then be able to share energy information (leaflets) provided by Hart District Council highlighting options and solutions householders can take to make their homes more energy efficient. Hart Voluntary Action will be responsible for matching volunteers with properties and scheduling property visits.

The scheme visits will recommence in November 2026 but there will be an introduction and training session in advance of the scheme restarting.

What skills do I need?

Previous experience of using a thermal imaging camera is helpful but not essential, as a full training session (next session date to be determined) will be provided for all volunteers.

Attending this training session is a requirement to volunteer.

Ability to use email and the internet are also required, as are good communication skills.

There is also an option for volunteers to attend the assessments as a support and not as a camera operative.

Thermal imaging can only take place over the colder months (10°C or colder - November - February) so this is a short-term volunteering commitment with hours to suit. Ideally volunteers will be able to commit to one evening as week (5pm-8pm) to facilitate visit scheduling but this can be flexible to suit individual volunteers.
