Stepping Stones DS is governed by a board of around 7 Trustees and the current board meets around 8-10 times per year, both remotely and in person. It is not necessary to have a child with Down syndrome in order to become a Trustee of Stepping Stones DS.

All Trustee positions are subject to DBS and reference checks. All Trustees must be prepared to complete NSPCC online Introduction to Safeguarding course, or equivalent within three months of appointment.

The majority of the role can be undertaken from home although there will be an requirement to attend committee meetings.The Board meets monthly in the evenings. Time requirement is 2-3 hours per week on a flexible basis - this can be performed around work commitments. There are some events and activities on weekends, for which attendance (divided between the Trustees) is beneficial but not compulsory.
