Join Strategic Youth Independent Advisory Group which is part of the Youth Commission

The Strategic Youth Independent Advisory Group (YIAG) is a voluntary group made up of young people who are independent from the police. It meets six times a year, to review and challenge policing practices in a constructive way. This helps improve the police service to the public.

This is a volunteer group for those aged 14 to 25 which enables you to be involved in reviewing, challenging and scrutinising the police.

As a YIAG member, you will represent yourself and the views of your community. So we ask you to consult with others and will help to arrange some sessions for you, but you will need to undertake your own consultation too.

Joining the Youth Commission is a great way to:-

  • find out what your peers think about important issues
  • identify priority areas relating to young people around police and crime
  • consult other young people on policing priorities.
  • have your voice heard by influential people on the topics that matter to you
  • work with schools, colleges or youth groups in your area
  • represent young people at relevant events, conferences and meetings
  • make new friends

So why wouldn't you join us?!!

You need to be aged between 14-24 and live, be educated or work in Hampshire or Isle of Wight.
