Basingstoke Voluntary Action (BVA) is inviting applications for a new Volunteer Treasurer (Trustee) to join its Board and support the organisation as it enters an important new chapter. BVA plays a vital role in supporting, connecting and championing voluntary organisations, charities and social enterprises across Basingstoke and Deane. Its work helps ensure a strong, resilient and effective VCSE sector that benefits local communities and residents.

This opportunity arises as BVA bids a heartfelt thank‑you to its longstanding Treasurer, whose dedication and expertise have provided many years of exceptional financial stewardship. The new Treasurer will build on this strong foundation, bringing fresh insight and strategic guidance to help drive the organisation forward.

The role is varied, engaging and central to BVA’s governance. Working closely with the Chair, fellow Trustees, the Chief Executive and the Financial Controller, the Treasurer will help ensure BVA’s resources are well managed and aligned with its mission. Unlike operational finance roles, this position focuses on oversight, assurance and strategic direction rather than day‑to‑day bookkeeping. The successful candidate will help the Board interpret financial information, support decision‑making and provide constructive challenge at key planning and reporting points.

Trustees typically attend six Board meetings per year, with additional involvement around budgeting, financial planning and year‑end accounts. The role is voluntary, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.

BVA is seeking someone with financial experience, strong governance skills and a passion for supporting the local voluntary sector. Previous trustee experience is welcome but not essential.

This is a meaningful opportunity to use your expertise to benefit hundreds of local groups – and the communities they serve.
