The Big Help Out

This year, King Charles III will be using his Coronation to shine a light on volunteering and the good work that we can all do.

The Big Help Out runs across the coronation weekend to encourage, champion and celebrate all volunteering with 8th May designated the national day of volunteering, when charities and community groups across the country will be running events to mark the celebrations.

Here at Basingstoke Voluntary Action, we are inviting people in Basingstoke & Deane to make a personal pledge during the bank holiday weekend on 5-8 May to do some volunteering during the year.

Only a few minutes to spare? Share a post promoting a charity or community event, talk to a person about volunteering, pick up some litter and pop it in the bin, ask someone how they are feeling, find a charity you are passionate about and spread the word about it

Got a few hours? Help at a charity/community event, take on a fundraising challenge, do some litter picking (either by yourself or as part of a group), sort out that cupboard and donate your items to charity shops

More than a few hours or looking to do some regular volunteering? From litter picking, to helping our local sports groups,  or perhaps you would like to try your hand at fundraising, befriending services or helping a local organisation with social media – there are hundreds of opportunities to get involved with the local community.

The pledge can be from volunteering an hour to a day or to regular volunteering – pledge whatever time you can to help make a difference.

So how can you get involved? Are you willing? Here’s what you have to do:
