SpeakEasy Strengthens Board with New Trustee Appointments
SpeakEasy Advocacy, a local charity dedicated to supporting individuals with communication difficulties, has recently strengthened its governance by appointing several new Trustees. This significant development was facilitated by Basingstoke Voluntary Action (BVA) and Volunteer North Hampshire (VNH).
Jessie Stewart and Oliver Zampieri have joined SpeakEasy Advocacy’s board of Trustees, having applied through BVA’s volunteering platform, VNH. Their appointments mark a pivotal moment for the charity, enhancing its leadership and strategic direction.
BVA spoke to SpeakEasy’s CEO, Amanda Kent, about the recent additions to the board and the positive impact this has had on SpeakEasy. Amanda mentioned that having the applicants come through VNH made the process much easier, providing her with all the necessary information.
At a time when the demand for Trustees is so high in the sector, it is important to celebrate this success. Amanda shared some helpful tips for those looking for Trustees: “To avoid losing the volunteer to another organisation, I always ensure I get back to the applicants the same or next day,” she said. “I also invite them in the following week for an informal chat.”
The addition of these Trustees is expected to have a positive impact on SpeakEasy Advocacy, furthering its mission to empower individuals with communication challenges and advocate for their rights.
