Are you a friendly person who enjoys walking, being outdoors and meeting people? If so, this role could be perfect for you!

We are looking for volunteers to become walk leaders to help support members of the Rushmoor community who want to increase their physical activity level and improve their overall well-being. As a volunteer walk leader, you will lead a group of residents on this regular walk in Southwood Country Park. The walk is approximately 2 miles.

Walks are social and friendly and you will always be with another volunteer.

We ask that volunteers arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for people who are keen regular walkers and physically fit. In addition, you should be: 

  • Reliable, punctual and well organised
  • Able to commit to a regular slot (time to be agreed)
  • Friendly and welcoming with good communication skills
  • Confident to give a brief talk before starting, including information on the walking route and potential hazards.
  • Willing to work to the risk assessment provided & lead a walk safely and able to identify any unexpected hazards
  • Work in collaboration with other Volunteer Health Walk Leaders
  • Willing to follow policies and procedures
  • Able to identify and report on any safeguarding concerns, should they occur
  • Understand the need for confidentially and sensitivity

Full training will be given including a full induction with a trial walk.
