Trustee

Every Scout group requires trustees, which form the Trustee Board. This board oversees the administration of the group. As well as a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, each Executive welcomes people with specific skills, and we are always looking for new members.

Main Tasks:

• Foster a common culture, values and ethos across the group.
• Create and maintain an inclusive organisation where volunteers can work, learn and reach their full potential.
• Review and recommend current and future strategic resourcing, training and development plans
• Actively contribute to policy setting, strategic direction, goal and target setting, and evaluate performance against targets, budgets, plans and objectives.

What skills do I need?

A Trustee is expected to have:

• A commitment to the Group’s aims and objectives
• An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities
• An ability to think strategically
• Good independent judgement and an open-minded approach to new ideas
• An ability to think creatively
• A willingness to speak their mind
• A willingness to devote the necessary time and effort An ability to work as part of a team
