Trustees have overall control of the Charity and are responsible for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do. Trustees oversee both the OFLAC Day Service and the Cafe.
Trustees make sure the Charity is running well and this includes ensuring the Charity:
Trustees of the Charity may take on all or most of the work of running the Charity. Trustees may delegate the day-to-day operations to the staff.
A trustee will use their skills and experience to make sure the Charity runs efficiently, but trustees are allowed to get advice from external sources like solicitors or other experts if they need to.
All trustees make decisions about their Charity collectively, working as a team. Decisions don’t usually need to be unanimous – so long as the majority of trustees agree.

As a trustee you will have a valuable role to play and your personal skills and experiences are important. These may come from a professional or personal perspective. A full and varied range of inputs are essential to ensure the Charity meets its aims and objectives.
What could I be doing?
Meetings held with the full Trustee Board, including the Managers and Day Service Members' Reps, usually on Monday evenings. Your role will be to contribute ideas and to discussions around the Day Service and Cafe management structure and financial status. The specific tasks you do outside of meetings, if any, will depend on your expertise and interests.

Trustees are expected to attend 6 meetings a year plus the AGM, lasting approximately 2 hours each. These are currently on Monday evenings. There is flexibility if you are not able to attend all meetings. It is up to you as to whether you take on tasks between meetings, and how much time you are able to spend on the tasks.
