Are you a cheerful, sociable and caring person with an interest in older people? Then this opportunity could be for you!
We are looking for volunteers to help at our monthly Alzheimer Café gatherings which take place every third Friday of the month from 6.30 - 8.30pm (some volunteers are needed from 5.30 - 9pm to help with setting up/clearing away).
We would value your assistance with everything from welcoming guests and helping them sign in, taking their coats and helping them get seated to helping serve refreshments at tables, circulating and chatting with guests - including those with dementia, assisting guests who may need to walk around, helping in the kitchen and helping provide information supplied at the literature table.
This is an opportunity to meet new people and feel that you are making a difference - and a positive contribution which will impress on your CV (or for Duke of Edinburgh awards). If you are thinking of entering the medical profession, especially psychology and related fields, the chance to hear the presentations will be very useful too.
We will provide a one-day training session about the purpose and aims of the Alzheimer Café as well as on the spot 'coaching' about duties.
