Love a chat? Available on the occasional Tuesday evening? Live locally in Farnborough or Yateley? We're on the hunt for volunteers to join our pool of mini-bus 'conductors' helping youngsters on and off of the bus as it makes its way to and from our young carers clubs.
A young carer is someone under 18 who helps look after, or whose life is
significantly affected by, a family member who is ill, disabled, has a mental health
condition or an addiction. They often take on practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities
that would normally be expected of an adult.
Through our term-time Young Carers clubs we are able to offer emotional/social/peer support, practical help and respite care to around 130 young carers living across Hart & Rushmoor. However, transporting them to and from the clubs often proves a massive barrier as many of them do not have access to the 'taxi service of mum & dad' that so many of us living in the area take for granted.
Excellent communication skills.
Sufficiently mobile to board and exit a mini-bus using the main steps.
Available to volunteer couple of times per month.
Willing to undergo basic training in volunteering with young people.
