How Can We Help you Find Funding Opportunities?

BVA currently have access to  an online database of funding opportunities called GRANTFinder, and we are offering opportunities to benefit from this to local groups. These options are available for organisations based in the areas covered by the Hampshire CVS Network.

Funding Drop In Sessions

We hold face-to-face drop-in sessions at The Orchard to support groups looking for an independent review of their grant application. These drop in sessions take place once a month.  Groups will be able to meet a member of our team to get advice and feedback on their application, and it is an opportunity to discuss the grant you are applying for.

Please book an appointment by emailing grants@bvaction.org.uk or calling us on: 01256 423816.

Face to Face & Zoom Meetings

We offer a face-to-face meeting service (for Basingstoke & Deane groups) to discuss your funding search requirements here in our Orchard building.

Alternatively, we are also offering a virtual meeting via Zoom, during which we will discuss your funding search requirements, enter them into the system, and produce a report which will be emailed to you. This will usually takes 30-45 minutes in total.

To request a meeting, please fill out the form below and specify what type of meeting you would like – we will then contact you to arrange a mutually suitable time:

Need Help With Fundraising?

Fundraise via our Community Lottery

The Basingstoke & Deane Lottery operates on the principle of raising money within the community for the community. In this time of shrinking budgets and increased community need, our Community Lottery enables good causes to connect with their supporters by encouraging them to donate whilst offering them a chance to win up to £25,000.

There is no catch, the Community Lottery is totally free for local organisations to join, and the more you promote it, the more you can raise. No fees, no administration, no hassle. BVA works with Lottery partners to help them get the best results from this opportunity.

Our Fundraising Top Tips:

Accepting Donations

Choosing a Site:

When raising cash for charities, as if undertaking the three peaks on a unicycle isn’t difficult enough, you also have to choose which online donation site to use.  The site-by-site guide below helps you as a fundraiser decide where to set yours up.

How much do you actually get from donations?

You might be forgiven for thinking that a £10 online donation by a friend means a £10 donation directly to your charity of choice however in reality, it can be much more or less depending on which site you choose and whether or not donations include Gift Aid.

Admin fees:

Some sites charge charities an administration or a transaction fee for processing your donation. This ranges from nothing to £2 and can make a huge difference to the overall amount a charity receives, especially if the total comes from lots of small donations which are all subject to the fee.

Card charges:

Some sites may also charge fees for using a particular credit or debit card, which will again dent your donated amount.

VAT:

Finally, there is the potential of a VAT charge which the site must pay and will take from donations. This does not apply where the site itself is a registered charity and therefore benefits from tax relief.

If you would like more information on the different donation platforms available, please email contact@bvaction.org.uk or call 01256 423816

Claiming Gift Aid

You can claim back 25p every time an individual donates £1 to your charity or community amateur sports club (CASC). This is called Gift Aid.

To be eligible for this, your organisation must be registered as a charity or as a CASC.

To find out how to set up your account, please email contact@bvaction.org.uk or call 01256 423816

Crowdfunding

Crowdfunding is an alternative means of funding projects by raising money from large numbers of people. The concept is simple – individuals pitch their project and encourage people to support them with donations.
