About
Basingstoke Ice Hockey Club (BIHDC) was established in 1987, providing ice hockey training for children and young adults aged between 5 -18. The teams are divided according to age, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18, as per the English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA) guidelines. These teams train twice a week on a Monday and Wednesday evening at Planet Ice Basingstoke. The training sessions are run by an EIHA level 2 coach, assisted by at least one level 1 EIHA coach. The sessions combine periods of off-ice warm up and on-ice training, aiming to provide a balance of discipline, development and fun. The coaches strive to improve every players ability as well as their understanding of the rules and conduct within the sport. At weekends the teams compete against other teams within the South West region. Both training sessions and matches are run with an emphasis on safety to players, on-ice officials and spectators.
