BVA marked its 60th anniversary in style last Friday with a hugely successful Family Fun Day and Trail – and the sun shone just in time to welcome hundreds of families to a day full of fun, learning, and community spirit.
Held at The War Memorial Park, the free event offered something for everyone. Children and parents enjoyed a wide variety of activities including games, crafts, face painting, musical instruments, and an interactive trail around the park. With something different to explore at each stand, families were able to enjoy at their own pace and take part in engaging, hands-on experiences.
The event also gave local people the chance to connect with 20 local charities and community organisations, who were on hand to showcase the incredible work they do in the Basingstoke area. Many visitors commented on how nice it was to discover support and services they hadn’t known were available – all while having fun as a family.
“This was a fantastic day and such a lovely way to celebrate our 60th year,” said Ernie Dickson, from BVA. “We wanted to give something back to the community and bring people together – and the turnout and positive feedback were beyond what we hoped for.”
The atmosphere throughout the day was buzzing, with families enjoying a cost-free day out during the summer holidays – a welcome treat for many.
Thanks to the success of this year’s event, BVA is now hoping to make the Family Fun Day and Trail an annual summer celebration.
