The Basingstoke and District Disability Forum (BDDF) was set up in 2008 with a mission to support the local disabled community to reach its potential in Basingstoke. With 1 in 5 people identifying as having a disability, and no clear organisation representing them, there was a gap in the accessibility of services available, as well as a lack of inclusion opportunities for less-abled people. The BDDF was founded by a group of residents living with disabilities with the aim of supporting the community, giving them a voice and addressing the stigma.
Our vision: To create a community that sees the person, values the difference and embraces awareness.
Our mission: To facilitate increased awareness, active involvement and healthy promotion of disability and those who live it.
With 36,000 people in Basingstoke and Deane living with a disability we’re committed to offering a programme of core services that are relevant, impactful and empowering. Our ‘ConneXions’ programme has been running for a year and has complimented our existing range of services.
In return for just 5 hours per month, a unique opportunity has arisen to join the Board of Directors as a voluntary Trustee. You can help shape the future of a local charity and be part of the future for disabled people in our community.
