Promoting Good Governance – Introduction to the Charity Governance Code

This workshop will help you understand the key features of good governance, what this means, and examples of what good governance looks like in practice. We’ll go through a nationally recognised tool called the Charity Governance Code, helping you to have a clear guide and examples of ensuring your organisation is governed effectively.

Community Venues Network

Community Venues play an increasingly important role in bringing local communities together. They offer a focal point for neighbourhood activities and a base for local groups. This network will be an opportunity for those supporting the Community Venues in Basingstoke to come together and discuss what the current needs are. This is a chance for groups and organisations which encourage and provide opportunities for communities within Basingstoke to network and participate in a community-focused discussion.

PAT Testing Course

Tuesday, 28 June 2022 9:00 – 16:00.


PAT (Portable Appliance Testing), is an essential part of electrical maintenance. The course is a 1-day certificate of training and competence, run by TTS Training LTD, and is suitable for anyone in the community looking to bring their PAT testing in-house. The course is fully comprehensive and follows the IET Code of Practice. The learner will need to successfully pass a multiple-choice test and a practical assessment in portable appliance testing (PAT). Successful candidates will receive a PAT Training Competent Person Certificate accredited by UKRS. Charities or Community Groups based in Basingstoke and Deane will be able to hire the Community PAT Testing kit held with BVA on completion of the course. This course can only be run if 6 attendees are booked on. Confirmation that the course is running will be sent 2 weeks prior to the course date. All bookings will therefore be treated as a commitment to attend if the course runs and will be invoiced accordingly.

Domestic Abuse Awareness – Dragonfly Training Session

Become a Dragonfly Champion with this training aimed at increasing awareness of what domestic abuse is and understanding how you can help.

This training session will be ran by Paragon, an organisation that runs the Dragonfly Project in Hampshire, which involves supporting victims of domestic abuse and engaging in communities, raising awareness of domestic abuse.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Course

This Youth Mental Health First Aid Course will be run by MHFA England and is a two day training course that will take place over two consecutive days at our Orchard next to the town centre. This course is suitable for individuals working with young people. This course will give you an understanding of common mental health issues and how they can affect young people, delivered by a experienced and fully qualified trainer. The MHFA England training certificate is valid for three years.

Cost of Course: £190 per person
