Safeguarding

Keeping people safe should be a high priority for all organisations. It is therefore essential that to ensure legal compliance organisations who work with or support children and vulnerable adults, have robust safeguarding practices in place.

During 2019 the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) updated  the safeguarding guidance they offer on NCVO Knowhow. The guidance includes a list of specialist guides and templates and resources
The NSPCC offers a wide range of safeguarding standards, toolkits and template policies aimed specifically at voluntary, community and faith organisations and groups that work with children and young people up to the age of 18.
The Hampshire Safeguarding Board has a resource library of useful information.
The Hampshire Safeguarding Adults Board also has a range of resources.
The Government has published specific guidance on handling safeguarding allegations in a charity.
Guidance on the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) can be found here. To check whether your group needs your staff and volunteers DBS checked please check the DBS Eligibility Guidance.
