Knit and Natter Host at Community Hub

At our Community Hub in Popley, we have a ‘Knit n Natter’ area where customers can sit together and knit either for themselves or for a local charity. This area will be hosted by ‘Knit n Natter’ volunteer(s) who will be a friendly, welcoming face to our customers, making them feel comfortable and help to kick-start conversations. The volunteer(s) will play a key role in connecting people in the local community, many of our customers experience loneliness and social isolation so making them feel comfortable can make a real difference to their experience.

The Community Hub runs the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month and gives older members of our community an opportunity to meet and socialise with others. We offer a selection of cakes, toasted tea cakes, and light snacks, plus a freshly prepared hot lunch and pudding.

What will I be doing?

As a Knit and Natter Host, you will be:

• Providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for our customers

• Creating a safe space where customers have the opportunity to sit together to talk and knit.

• A friendly face

• Initiate conversations and help everyone to feel included.

What skills do I need?

We are looking for people who can engage easily in conversation and who:

Availability Details

Knit and Natter Hosts start at 10am and finish at 11:45am. (We also have a Lunch Table Host from 11:45am to 1:45pm, one volunteer could do both if you would like to.) The Community Hub runs on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month. We request a minimum commitment of at least once a month.
