End of Life “ Butterfly” volunteer

As an End of Life “ Butterfly” volunteer, your role will be to provide comfort, companionship and support to patients and visitors at their time of need.  In providing company and support, you can help to make a very difficult, emotional and stressful time, a little easier.

You will also allow families/friends time to have a break, without the fear of their loved one being alone. 

This is an ad-hoc role and we are looking for volunteers who can be flexible with their availability. 

What skills do I need?

• Excellent communication skills
• Willing to learn and follow instructions from members of staff
• Good attention to detail
• Committed to helping and supporting staff and the ability to liaise with professionals at all levels
• Punctual and reliable
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Understanding the need for confidentiality and compassion
• Able to work in a stressful and emotive environment
