Behind every successful charity is an understanding of their supporters and how to communicate with them effectively. It’s important that you know how to market and communicate your cause, strengths and skills; as well as understand and know your audience.
Fundraising and raising awareness go hand in hand. If people don’t know about you then they how can they support you? You not only need to be telling people about the events you hold as part of your fundraising strategy but also about the work you do and its importance to the community.

|Local Charities and Voluntary Organisations plus Community Centres may be interested in joining ‘Interests Me’ which allows posting of events which may be of interest to the local community and it also issues a weekly newsletter to subscribers regarding what’s coming up locally. |Do you struggle to promote your community event? Would you like to be able to advertise your event to as wide an audience as possible, free of charge? Member organisations are advised to let BVA have details of events which we can be promote on our Facebook page etc. Also, why not consider utilising the free online event options on Destination Basingstoke and Basingstoke Gazette.|

|Charity Digital has produced guidance on Steps for creating a charity social media strategy|
|The Media Trust has a Resource Hub with lots of guidance and toolkits to help with your digital marketing.|
