Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
UPDATE (17th March, 2020) – In the current situation, we will not be offering the DBS appointments mentioned below until further notice.
A DBS check may be needed for certain jobs or voluntary work, e.g. working with children, in healthcare or with vulnerable adults.
Basingstoke Voluntary Action offer Disclosure and Barring Clinics to local organisations. These are held at the Orchard building in White Hart Lane, Basingstoke, RG21 4AF.
You will need to bring with you three original documents for proof of identity and address. You can find a list of all the acceptable documents for DBS checks here. (Please note a photocard driving license will be sufficient on its own without the paper counterpart.) If you have a National Insurance Number you will also need to bring this with you.
If you have any queries about requirements, please call 01256 423816
Please use the form below to find and book onto a DBS session. (form temporarily removed)
Groups are strongly encouraged to review the Overview of DBS Checks, Regulated Activity and the DBS Update Service for Managers of Staff and Volunteers.
Also, the form for organisations to use when they see their staff/volunteers’ DBS certificates. Staff/volunteers must of course register for the online update service for the forms to be relevant.
The charge for this service is –

Note that once you have registered via the updated DBS System your details are held online and if you require another check for a different organisation (working with the same workforce – Adult, Youth or Both) you can provide permission for the other organisation to check details. They will require your DOB, Gender, DBS Certificate Number and permission. The online details are maintained negating the requirement for further manual checks. See Update Service website.
Please take note of the following document regarding changes to the system – Summary of Changes to Disclosure and Barring Certificate System for applicants.
Please do read about further changes to the DBS process.
Please Note: To retain our status, we must perform 100+ checks per year, so please do use this service or it may be lost.
