Covid-19 Emergency Response Community Grant

In response to the second lockdown period, which began on the 5th of November, Basingstoke Voluntary Action, in partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, are launching a second phase of the Emergency Response Community Grants scheme.

The purpose of the ERCG scheme is to provide emergency financial support to those local organisations offering services and support to residents affected by coronavirus.

What is Available?

Grants of up to £5,000 including administration costs (see below) can only be used to support people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic during the second lockdown period (which started on the 5th of November and is expected to end on the 2nd of December) and for these following purposes:

  • To cover volunteer and travel expenses
  • To pay for printing required as part of the local response
  • The purchase of emergency supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • The purchase of food to make up emergency food parcels
  • To cover transport costs for the collection and distribution of food parcels
  • To cover the hire of community facilities to enable the hubs to operate
  • To cover administration costs to provide emergency support – this is capped at 10% of the total amount of grant funding requested by an organisation over other costs as detailed above.

Whenever possible, applicants are strongly encouraged to use at least 40% of any grant awarded to purchase food to be made into emergency food parcels for those residents that are not able to shop for themselves and do not have the means to cover the cost of food through hardship or inability to access cash or on-line banking.

Who can apply

Please note that if you are in receipt of a current Covid-19 emergency response grant and haven’t spent all the funds awarded to your organisation, you will not be able to apply for another grant under this scheme until all previous funding has been spent and evidenced.

Only existing voluntary groups and informal groups established in response to the pandemic are eligible to apply under this scheme.

How to Apply

To access the funding organisations will need to complete an application form. Incomplete applications will not be considered for funding. The scheme Criteria and  Terms and Conditions should also be read and understood before making an application. All three documents can be downloaded below:
