BDBC Consultations for future plans

Have your say on the borough’s vision for 2050

People in Basingstoke and Deane are being asked to help shape what the borough will look like in the future as part of the Horizon 2050 project. Basingstoke and Deane is a great place to live today thanks to the well-thought-out and bold long-term decisions taken in the 1960s, ‘70s and ‘80s, which planned our current infrastructure.

Through the Horizon 2050 initiative, the aim is to set an ambitious and aspirational shared vision for the next three decades to ensure that residents have high-quality homes, jobs and leisure and community facilities and businesses benefit from a thriving economy.

Consultation on the draft vision runs until Sunday 19th August and you can have your say, and find out more information, via the website at

If you have any questions about the Horizon 2050, please contact the borough council’s Policy Team Manager Simon Christian on 01256 845183 or by emailing

The document has been prepared by the Local Planning Authority to add detail to the policies in the Basingstoke and Deane Borough Local Plan 2011-2029 by providing guidance on how landscape, biodiversity and tree considerations should inform new development.

The consultation runs for seven weeks from Monday 30th July to Monday 17th September.

To view the document and/or respond to the consultation, please visit the council’s consultation portal.
