Masonic Charitable Foundation

The Foundation awards grants to other charities, medical research studies and disaster relief appeals. Funded entirely through the generous donations of the Masonic community, the Foundation has an annual charitable expenditure which places it amongst the largest charities in the country. The MCF only funds charities that are registered with the Charity Commission. We do not accept applications from Social Enterprises, Community Interest Companies (CIC) or Community Interest Groups (CIG).

The Foundation web site is at Masonic Charitable Foundation.

How We Support The Wider Community

We have conducted surveys which informed us of the areas about which Freemasons care most passionately. Our grant-making programmes for charities target funding where it is most needed within specific areas. Our current target areas are:

  • Creating the best start in life for disadvantaged children and young people
  • Reducing isolation in later life
  • Medical research into degenerative disease
  • Care services in the hospice sector

Early Years Opportunities programme

Our Early Years Opportunities programme is open to charities that help disadvantaged children and young people overcome the barriers they face to achieve the best possible start in life.

Over the next five years, we will be supporting charities that help disadvantaged children and young people overcome the barriers they face to achieve the best possible start in life.

These grants will help to create opportunities and a more positive future for thousands of disadvantaged young people through mental and physical health support, parenting programmes, pastoral care and learning and development opportunities.

We are committed to helping vulnerable children and young people have healthy and happy lives and the best possible opportunities regardless of their ability, background or family circumstances.

Eligibility Guidelines for the programme are available here.
