Henry Smith’s Charity Grants – Ongoing

Deadlines

There are no deadlines (except for the Holiday Grants for Children, see below), but the Trustees meet four times a year in March, June, September and December to consider grant applications. We cannot guarantee your application will be considered at a particular meeting.
Their Main Grants Programme is for grants of £10,000 or over. There are two types of Main Grant:

  • Capital Grants – One off grants for purchase or refurbishment of a building or purchase of specialist equipment.
  • Revenue Grants – Grants of up to three years for things like core costs (including salaries and overheads), or the running costs of a specific project (including staffing costs).

The Small Grants Programme is for grants of under £10,000 per year.

County Grants – Grants of £500 – £20,000  for smaller organisations working with disadvantaged people and communities in one of eight English counties. (incl. Hampshire and Surrey). For organisations up to £250k (up to £1m if activities are county-wide). The funding can cover running costs, salaries, projects and small capital projects or expenditure.

Medical Research
Grants of up to three years for research undertaken by recognised ’Centres of Excellence’.

It usually takes six weeks for decisions to be made on applications and it is important that your application is submitted at the appropriate time. You must ensure that your application reaches us at least six weeks before your trip takes place.

One off grants of up to £2,500 for organisations, schools, youth groups etc specifically for holidays or outings for children under the age of 13 who are disabled or who live in areas of high deprivation.

To be eligible to apply for a County Grant, your annual income must be below £250,000, unless you are working county-wide, in which case your income must be below £1 million.
